BEIJING EAST IP LTD and Tsinghua University have a long-term relationship. Dr. Lulin GAO, the founder of BEIJING EAST IP LTD, serves as a Visiting Professor and sets up scholarship in Tsinghua University School of Law. Dr. Lulin GAO has three children and all of them received higher education in Tsinghua University. After being founded in 2002, BEIJING EAST IP LTD recruited tens of employees who graduated from Tsinghua University, including Dr. Xiaodong LI, the General Manager of BEIJING EAST IP LTD.

The first Berkeley-Tsinghua Annual Forum was held in Tsinghua University School of Law in December 2018 with “Transnational IP Litigation: Opportunities and Challenges-Focus on US IP Litigation” as the theme. BEIJING EAST IP LTD participated in the Forum. Weixing SHEN, dean of Tsinghua University School of Law, Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of UC Berkeley, School of Law, and many scholars from Intellectual Property field all over the world, such as the former US CAFC Chief Judge Randall R. Rader, the outstanding professor of Berkeley School of Law Robert Merges, the senior researcher of Berkeley School of Law Mark Cohen, the researcher Yuan HAO of the Research Center for Innovation and Intellectual Property of Tsinghua University, as well as legal consultants and partners from Chinese and US companies and law firms, met with each other and exchanged views on opportunities and challenges in transnational IP litigation, especially in US IP litigation. After opening speeches given by Weixing SHEN and Erwin Chemerinsky, Dr. Liaoteng WANG, Silicon Valley Director of BEIJING EAST IP LTD, made the first report in this forum and introduced US IP litigation. Dr. Liaoteng WANG graduated from Tsinghua University in 1997. Dr. Hongwei WANG, the roommate of Dr. Liaoteng WANG when they studied in Tsinghua University during 1990’s, once worked as postdoctor in Berkeley, now serves as the dean of School of Life Sciences, Tsinghua University.
The 37th J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference was held in San Francisco, US during January 7-10, 2019. Dr. Liaoteng WANG took part in organizing Tsinghua alumni reunion who participated in the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference. J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference was held once a year since 1983, and was the biggest investment forum which provided the most valuable information in healthcare field, and provided an excellent exchange platform for industry leaders, emerging fast-growing companies, technological innovators, and investment community. More than 9000 registered attendees and more than 450 private and listed companies participated in the conference this year. More and more scholars who graduated from Tsinghua University coming from San Francisco, Silicon Valley or other places participate in the conference in recent years.

This Tsinghua alumni reunion was held in the office of Goodwin Proctor LLP, and was the most formal reunion in recent years with the largest scale. More than 40 Tsinghua alumni from Northern Light Venture Capital, Oriza Ventures, Stanford University, Ping An Ventures, Hillhouse Capital Group, Roche, and other biopharmaceutical companies participated in the reunion, and most of them served as middle-senior managers in their respective companies or experts in related fields. They focused on life sciences, capital markets, intellectual property rights and other topics, and shared industry information and investment experience.
The Spring Festival is coming, and we wish BEIJING EAST IP LTD and Tsinghua University have more cooperations and interactions with each other in the new year.
